The purpose of WWOOF is to create an interest and understanding for organic and biodynamic ways of living. In addition to this WWOOF makes it possible for people to travel cheaply all over the world and, at the same time, to help where it is wanted and needed. Many countries have a national WWOOF organisation. To find out about WWOOF ing in that county, you need to contact the national WWOOF organisation directly. Each national organisation has its own membership arrangements and a separate membership fee. WWOOF Italy became an officially recognised voluntary organisation in June 2001 registered in the province of Livorno. As such it provides accident insurance cover for WWOOFers and, providing both host and WWOOFer can produce membership cards, justifies the presence of voluntary labour on a farm.
