14. Marina di Pisa, 56128 PISA.
This teaching farm is situated on a 55 ha property at Marina di Pisa in a beautiful area with rivers, sea, pinewoods and the town of Marina di Pisa, an old fishing town. The cities of Livorno and Pisa are nearby. The farm works on two levels, it is a sanctuary for domestic animals: horses, donkeys, cows, goats, pigs, rabbits, dogs and cats who have been saved from extreme suffering by various animalistic associations and who were destined to be killed and now live freely on 4 has of land and are cared for according to their needs. It is also a centre for environmental education, to teach about vegan philosophy and non violence. Particularly in the warmer months the farm is visited by schools and families who can see and get to know these animals who are normally hidden from view in intensive farming systems. We teach about the environment in relation to the meat industry and the right of respect for all living things. It is a centre for social agriculture; through the rapport with the animals there are also projects to sustain and integrate people with difficulties, for example drug addicts. The people who work here are are experts on caring for horses in their natural surroundings. Accommodation is in the house (there are two children 1 & 4) on a sofa bed in the living room or a tent (there will be another room available soon), meals organic and vegan eaten together, no smoking, drugs or alcohol. WWOOFers can help with the care of the animals, the rehabilitation of people staying here and with the farm visits. We intend to plant a synergic vegetable garden. A little English and German spoken in the house, on the farm one of the helpers speaks good French.

8. San Vito, 09040 CA.
I am a farmer with 5.60 ha of land in south-east Sardinia, about 7 km from the sea. Using only organic methods, we cultivate a vineyard, olive grove, fruit orchard and vegetable garden. We have not had the farm for very long but have 10 years of experience in organic agriculture. We try to preserve all the produce that we do not consume fresh (by making preserves, drying etc). We regularly bake bread. My husband Michele and I work on the farm. We are building an earth house and also make bricks for building with earth, water and straw. We work all year round but for those who are interested in our construction projects, the best time to come is from spring to autumn. Accommodation in comfortable room in a shed constructed with cane and mud (which we lived in for two years) or tent (in the summer). We prefer people who speak Italian as we speak very little English, French and Spanish (but enough for simple conversations).

The small pieces of land which we care for are between the hills and mountains and surrounded by woodland. We try to be as self sufficient as possible. We live a communal life with plenty of space for individuality and personal expression and we welcome people who would like to share this with us for short or long term stays. The jobs are varied throughout the year in the vegetable garden, woods and with other tasks. We love conviviality, communication, music, singing, and every other art form. We publish a newspaper “il Seminosogni"" about alternative realities to communicate with the outside world. Of our farm's 21 hectares - completely devoted to organic farming since 1988- we cultivate around 10 ha in grains, pulses, forage and vegetables irrigated with water from our lake. We have a flock of 50 sheep and we make our own cheese for family consumption. Our work with WWOOFers is based on collaboration both in the field (sowing, hoeing and harvesting) and in the barn (weaving onions and garlic) as well as in the house (sharing domestic tasks including cheese-making). We have hosted WWOOFers for many years, from all corners of the world and of all ages. We are more than satisfied with the ensuing relationships and many of our new friends continue coming back to visit us. In fact it's not the material help so much as a shared participation in communal family living, that we appreciate. Spring and summer are the seasons we need help in most. English, German and French spoken.

There are 11 ha of land, 5 of which are cultivated and 6 woodland, in a protected area. There as a large variety of trees in the woodland and some very old large trees. I do not have any animals apart from two dogs but compensate by having an enormous diversity of vegetables in my vegetable gardens. The house is very large and in the summer we hold courses here about producing seed and natural lifestyles. Meals vegetarian, no smokers, I am Christian but am happy to host people from any faith. Meals are usually organic. My mother lives in her own wing in the house and helps me, she is an excellent cook and often prepares the meals when we are working in the fields, using typical recipes of the area. For some years I ran an organic shop and vegetarian restaurant and anyone who comes here can learn our recipes, and how to make bread and Seitan. Children welcome. The house is large and there is space for everyone but if you prefer you can sleep in a tent. I am hoping to restore a house using green building methods and especially want help with this. The jobs are varied and include dry stone walling and work in the woods. For the past years I have slightly abandoned the farm but now partly because of the current crisis I want to return to working here full time. I market my seeds via the association Civiltà Contadina (of which I am a member), and am also president of a seed saving association. The house is warmed by the wood burning stove in the winter. Please bring ecological detergents for your personal hygiene. There is always plenty of space and jobs to be done all year round. I can speak a little English and French.

This is an interesting place for whoever is interested in the teachings of Osho, meditation, yoga and spirituality. As a mother (I have a son of 14) I feel the need to collaborate in the formation of a school for applied ecology and to experiment with a practical contact with nature inside and out. From Taormina there are organised tours to the volcano Etna and other important sites of the island. We can host one WWOOFer at a time, in own room, preferably for 2-4 weeks. 24. 95047 Paterno CT.
We have been practising organic agriculture here, on our 24 hectare farm on the slopes of Mount Etna, since 1980. We mainly cultivate vegetables, citrus fruits, olives, and prickly pears. We would like help from people who are motivated to work and live independently, we have 4 children and also work, so it is important that the community of WWOOFers here is more self-reliant. We can accommodate a maximum of 9 people at a time in small houses separate from the main house with an independent living area, kitchen, bathroom, and workshop. Help needed all year round with the vegetables, the animals, of which we have a large variety, including horses, donkeys, goats, pigs, geese, ducks, and chickens, in the factory making jams and other preserves, and repairing and building old and new structures around the farm. Visits to Etna and Catania easily accomplished. Children are welcome. English and French spoken.

26. 96010, Siracusa.
On my farm in the Iblee hills of Siracusa Monte Favara I rear sheep , in the valley is a spring "Sorgente S.Giovanni" and the whole area is of great archaeological interest with many caves and tombs from the Paleocristana era. The day starts at 6,30 in the sheep stalls with milking the sheep and then cleaning then out. One of the helpers on the farm then makes cheese and ricotta and cleans up the area whilst the other at 10 takes the sheep to pasture and they return at sunset and are then milked again. Help also needed with maintenance and clearing the grass round the archaeological part. From May to August we also collect wild capers, fennel seeds, asparagus, mushrooms and other wild vegetables. We have a typical Sicilian diet using our produce and old recipes, we also make bread in our wood burning oven.
